Instructions

  1. Skin Tone

    • 1

Wash your face to ensure that your skin is clean and makeup free. Pat your skin dry, but do not add a moisturizer at this time.

    • 2

Stand in front of a mirror in a room that has non-florescent lighting. Hold a white piece of paper beneath your chin. Looking at your face, take note if your skin has a yellow tinge or if it looks more reddish-blue.

    • 3

Ask a family member or friend for help. Pull one ear forward, folding it so that the crease where your ear meets your head is visible. Ask your helper to look at the color of the skin there and tell you if the skin is yellowish or reddish/pink in color.

    • 4

Compare your results of the two observations. If the skin behind the ear and above the white paper both appeared to have a yellowish undertone you have a warm skin tone. If both undertones appeared reddish or pinkish then your skin tone is cool. If the results differ, consider how you look in gold or silver. If you look best in silver jewelry, you have cool skin tones, while those who look best in gold are warm.

    Eye Shape

    • 5

Stand in front of a mirror. If you wear glasses remove them so that the shape of your eyes are not distorted by the lenses. If you are unable to see without your glasses recruit the help of a friend.

    • 6

Look at your lids while your eyes are open. Take note if you are able to see your lids. This type of eye is called hooded. If you can see your lids, note if they are more visible at the outer corners and narrower at the inner corner. If this describes your lids they are deep-set.

    • 7

Examine the tilt of the outer corners of each eye. Take note if they have a downward slope. This type of eye shape is considered droopy. If they have an upward tilt they are almond-shaped, which is considered one of the most desirable eye shapes.

    • 8

Look at your actual eye. Does it appear full and set forward on your face? This type of eye is a prominent shape.

    • 9

Look at the space between your eyes. Normal eye space is the length of one eye. If your eyes are set closer than the length of one, your eyes are close-set. If they are set further than the length of one eye, they are considered wide-set.

Tips & Warnings

  • Eye shapes can be a combination of both distance and shape, such as wide set and hooded.
