Air cards are used on laptops, PDAs and personal computers to connect to the Internet wirelessly. These cards are connected to laptops through one of the USB slots and uses installed software to connect to the Web in some cases. These cards require a service plan through cell phone providers before they are able to connect to the Web.

Instructions

      Insert a wireless card into the USB slot on the computer you will be using to access the Internet. Allow your computer to detect the air card; the message "Found new hardware. Your new hardware has been installed and is ready to use" will appear on the bottom, right corner of the computer.

      Click "next" in the installation window after the software installation wizard appears.

      Read and agree to the license agreement by clicking "I accept the terms in the License Agreement."

      Continue to click the "next" and "back" buttons to complete the installation.

      Click "Finish" in the "InstallShield Wizard Completed" window.

      Restart the computer.

      Click and open the downloaded device software from the desktop.

      Click "Connect to the Internet" once the software displays "Ready to connect" in the window.
