How to Style Short Curly Hair for a Prom
It's one of the most important, exciting events for high school students--prom night. The dress, the shoes, the makeup and last but not least, the hairstyle, make or break a successful prom night. If you have short, curly hair, you may find that styling your tresses is somewhat difficult in general. Curly hair, especially if it is shorter, tends to become frizzy and tough to manage on a daily basis. In a formal setting like prom, however, you can experiment with different styles to create your perfect prom hairstyle. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Wear a sparkling tiara if you have very short, curly hair. Purchase a sparkling tiara and place it at the top of your head amongst your curls if you have boy-cut or pixie-cut curly hair. Super-short hair is not as versatile as longer hair, so a glitzy accessory is key.

Finger-styling individualizes curls, giving your hair depth. Apply curl cream to wet hair, evenly distributing it from root to tip. Blow-dry your hair with a diffuser to maximize your curls and minimize frizz. Wrap strands of hair around your fingers while blow drying to individualize curls and give your hair more depth.

Gather your curls at the top of your head for a formal up-do. Scoop your hair up and away from the nape of your neck and secure the hair in place with bobby pins in the same shade as your hair. Keep pushing your curls upward, while pinning, until the mass of your hair is at the back of the crown of your head. Bobby pin the sides up toward the bundle of curls, letting a few errant strands tickle the sides of your face.

Try a shiny, sleek look. Apply straightening serum to your wet hair, then blow-dry--without the diffuser--while turning a round bristle brush through sections of hair. Do this for your entire head to smooth out your tresses. Position a hair straightener about 1/2 inch from the root of a 1-inch section of hair, clamp it and quickly slide it down to the tips. Do this for your entire head to create a straight, sleek look.

5
Spray your wet, clean hair from root to tip with a heat protection spray. Comb through your hair with a wide-toothed comb, then blow-dry your hair--without the diffuser--straight back away from your forehead for a swept-back bouffant look. Pin your hair at the sides with bobby pins and fasten a jeweled barrette just above your ear.
