How to Lubricate Brakes on Spin Bikes
Part of maintaining your spin bike is knowing how to lubricate its brakes. Whenever your brakes squeak or squeal, this signals that they no longer have the same stopping power they used to. You need to lubricate the brakes and make the necessary adjustments to make them work like new. There are various spray lubricants that you can use to make sure that the movement of your brakes remains smooth and normal.

Clamp your bike onto a repair stand. Pivot your bike to the underside for easy access to the brakes. Some repair stands may allow you to rotate the bike a full 360 degrees for easy access. However, spin bikes are slightly heavier than normal bikes, so you may not be able to easily rotate it. Loosen the mechanism of the repair stand to rotate the bike and tighten it once you have it in the right position.

Squeeze the levers of your spin bike's brakes. This will allow the pads to touch the rim of the wheel.

Hold the brake pads of your spin bike against the rim with your hand. Pop the cable housing out of its cable stops.

Slide down the housing and use a clean rag to wipe off the cables and get rid of any dirt.

Open your bottle of lubricant and start lubricating the cables. This will prevent rust from forming on the moving parts of your spin bike, specifically the brakes. Apply a very light coating of the lubricant by using four drops of oil on each of the spin bike's brake springs. There is no need to lubricate the belt of the spin bike, as this does not require any form of maintenance.

Slide the housing back to its original position and squeeze the brakes again to put your bike's housing back in its cable stops.
