How to Fix ActiveX on Windows

ActiveX programs are add-ons used to allow animations on websites or to help users download programs off a website. Generally, a user is unaware of when ActiveX programs are working, but when a program encounters a problem, it can cause issues with the way a website loads or when a user tries to download a program. Fortunately, it is possible to fix errors that ActiveX programs may encounter.

Instructions

    • 1

For resetting ActiveX, open Internet Explorer and click the "Tools" menu at the top of the page.

    • 2

      Select "Manage add-ons."

    • 3

Select "Toolbars and Extensions" from the "Manage add-ons" window that appears.

    • 4

Find the appropriate ActiveX control to fix and click it.

    • 5

Select "Disable" and click "OK." Select "Enable" and click "OK."
