How do I Make DIY Lip Stain?
Lip stains offer a less glossy alternative to lip stick. Lip stain is generally manufactured from a gel or water base and is intended to add a light “stain” to the lips that lasts longer than traditional lipsticks and will not rub off as easily. Homemade lip stains can be manufactured at home for a fraction of the price of their commercial counterpart, which can cost anywhere from $4 to $20 or more. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 1 package flavored gelatin
- Small bowl
- Cotton swabs
- Water
- 1 tsp. beeswax
- Cheese grater
- Microwave safe bowl
- 2 tbsp. sunflower oil
- Beet root powder
- Small jar

Gelatin Lip Stain

Pour the contents of one package of flavored gelatin into a small bowl. The gelatin can be any color of your choosing.

Wet the end of a cotton swab and dip it into the gelatin.

Rub the gelatin across both lips. Rub the upper and lower lips together.

Gently wipe the lips with a dry cotton swab to remove any gelatin crystals that may remain. Another layer of gelatin can be applied if the desired color was not achieved.
Beet Root Powder Lip Stain

Grate 1 tbsp. beeswax over a microwave safe bowl with a cheese grater.

Pour 2 tbsp. sunflower oil and 1/2 tsp. beet root powder into the bowl.

Microwave the ingredients on high for 30 seconds. Stir the ingredients and continue to microwave for 10 second increments until the beeswax is completely melted.

Allow the mixture to cool. Add up to 1/2 tsp. beet root powder until the desired color is achieved.

Store the lip stain in an small jar.
