How do I Donate Cards to Marines in Iraq?

Writing a letter to a Marine serving overseas can cheer him up and remind him of home.

American Marines in Iraq are serving our country in a way that few are willing to do. To show your support, you may want to send them cards or letters thanking them for their service in protecting our nation. If you do not know a specific Marine in Iraq, several organizations, such as The Care Package Project organized by Marine Parents, can connect you with a serviceman or woman who would love to receive a letter or card.

Things You'll Need

• Card or stationary paper
• Envelope
• Postage stamp

Instructions

1. Decide whether you'll send a card or a letter. If sending a card, make sure that it is not for a specific holiday, because organizations like The Care Package Project cannot guarantee that packages will be delivered at any specific time.

2. Begin your message with "Dear Marine" if you don't know the actual name of the person to whom you are mailing your card.

3. Handwrite a caring message for the Marine that will remind him of home and inform him that the civilians of our country are supportive of his service.

4. Remember that Marines serving in Iraq are in a very stressful situation and may not have the opportunity to personally respond to your card.

5. Place your card into the envelope and, if you are sending your letter to an anonymous Marine, mail it to the following address:

6. Put a stamp on the envelope and take it to the post office or a mailbox.
