How to Use a Keystroke Logger

Keystrokes can be monitored using hardware.

A keystroke logger is a piece of inline hardware for monitoring keyboard input. There are programs that can record such input as well, but these programs are often resource-intensive, and there's no way to guarantee they will operate seamlessly.

• Inline keystroke logger

Instructions

1. Unplug the keyboard of the target computer from the PS/2 port on the back of the tower.

2. Connect the keyboard to one end of the inline keystroke logger.

3. Connect the output end of the keystroke logger back into the PS/2 port that the keyboard was plugged into on the target computer.

4. Connect the keystroke logger into your computer and review the data once the sample has been collected,
