How to Modify the Welcome Message in Microsoft Outlook

With the Microsoft Office Outlook task manager application, you can receive or send emails, write notes and mark specific dates on your calendar. After you open the application on your computer, you are greeted with a standard welcome message. You can manually edit the welcome message by modifying the file for the message in your Microsoft Office folder. The welcome message in Outlook can be changed for the 2000, 2003 and 2007 versions of the software.

      Click on the "Start" button on the desktop, and then click on the "My Computer" option. Click on the "C:" drive option, and then click on the "Program Files" folder.

      Click on the "Microsoft Office" folder, and then click on the "Office" folder. Double-click on the "Welcome.msg" file in the folder to open it.

      Click on the "Edit" option from the top toolbar menu, and then click on the "Edit Message" option.

      Use your mouse to select all the text in the previous welcome message, and then press the "Delete" key on your keyboard to remove the text.

      Enter new text for the welcome message, and make any format changes, including changing the font and size from the top menu.

      Click on the "File" option, and then click on the "Save" option. Close out of the message, and it will be saved.
