How to Find Service Codes on a Dell Computer

The "Service Code" is a five or seven digit code found on the "Service Tag" on Dell computers. The tag identifies the Dell computer, making it easier for customers to get technician support over the phone. Instructions

1. Close your Dell laptop and turn it upside down. If you have a desktop, turn the tower around.

2. Locate a white sticker with a black barcode and numbers and letters underneath. This is the "Service Tag."

3. Write the five or seven digit number down on a piece of paper. This is the "Service Code" that you give to an operator or technician when calling Dell for support.
