How to Find an Auto Notary thumbnail
Notaries public can notarize all types of contracts and documents.

Notaries public are people who can earn extra income by signing, confiming and verifying legal documents. A notary can only notarize documents in the state in which she is bonded, and second, a notary can notarize all types of legal documents--private contracts, auto contracts and even mortgages. If you need to find a notary in your state to notarize an auto contract, you have several options.

Instructions

    • 1

Contact your local United States Postal Service (USPS) office. Many of these branch locations have at least one notary public on staff. You can usually complete the notarization in the USPS office.

    • 2

Visit a local UPS, DHL or FedEx office. These offices, like the USPS offices, often have a notary public on staff. These notaries, though, may charge a bit more than the government.

    • 3

Contact the local chapter of the National Notary Association. This is the official website for notaries in the United States. These local chapters should be able to guide you to notaries in your county or city.

    • 4

Use the search tool in Resource 2 to locate a notary within a certain radius of your home or office. This is a free search tool.

    • 5

Ask friends, family members and colleagues for referrals. The best contacts are usually made through referrals.
