How to Safely Download a Hard Drive to Another Computer

If you have your important data stored on your external hard drive and you want to download it to your computer, you can use one of the applications designed specifically for moving data safely from one hard drive to another. Copying large-sized data manually can be a hassle, and applications like Macrium Reflect free, Areca Backup and Microsoft Sync Toy are good choices.

  1. Using Microsoft Sync Toy

      Download and install the application Microsoft Sync Toy.

      Connect the external hard drive to the computer.

      Launch Sync Toy.

      Click the button that says, "Create New Folder Pair."

      Click "Browse" on the left folder.

      Select "My Computer," then select the external drive from which you're copying the data.

      Select the backup option "Echo." All the data from the left folder will be copied to the right one.

    Using Macrium Reflect Free

      Download and install Macrium Reflect Free.
