How Do I Change a Dry Martini Into a Wet Martini?

Dry martini conversion is almost scientific in its precision.

Martinis are refreshing cocktails, though changing a dry martini into a wet martini makes for an altogether different drinking experience. The conversion process is dependent on the measurements of vermouth and gin within the drink. Dry martinis have less vermouth and more gin or vodka, whereas a wet martini is the opposite. You can test the difference between the two types of martinis in one sitting by altering the amounts in the middle of imbibing the drink.

Things You'll Need

• Vermouth
• Gin or vodka
• Triple Sec
• Olives

Instructions

1. Start with a dry martini. Pour either gin or vodka (depending on your preference) into a martini glass, filling it about a third of the way to the top. Pour just a splash of vermouth into the glass. Add olives.

2. Sip the drink and eat the olives you've put in, leaving your glass about a third full again.

3. Add a generous portion of vermouth in the glass, filling it nearly to the top again. Add a splash of gin or vodka. For an extra wet martini, add a small amount of Triple Sec to the drink. Add olives if you'd like, but they generally go better with a dry martini.
