On-board video cards are actually a physical part of the motherboard.

The Acer Aspire 1600 series of computers included either an Intel on-board video card or an ATI Radeon video card, depending on selected upgrades. The computer shipped standard with Windows XP Service pack 2, which allows users to easily update their graphics card drivers with just a few clicks using Windows Device Manager. Updating graphics card drivers will ensure that your card is compatible with the latest technologies, as well as repair any errors that have been discovered with the present drivers since their release.
