1
Have your walls the way you want them before putting up the border. For example, if you want to put wallpaper up, or paint the walls, do so and allow them to dry for a few days before the wall borders go up.
-
2
Decide where on the wall you want to put the wall border. Borders can go at the very top of the wall, the very bottom, or somewhere in the middle, but they should stay consistent for the whole wall or room.

3
Place the measuring leveler on the wall where you want the top of the border to be and level it. You will know the leveler is level when the bubbles in all of the liquid areas are exactly in between the middle lines. You do not need to do this if you are placing the border along the very top or bottom of the wall.
-
4
Draw a small horizontal line every six inches along the measuring leveler. Do this along the whole wall and the pencil marks will be your guide for a straight border.
-
5
Peel off the back of the wall border so that it is ready to stick on the wall. Start at the edge of the wall, and press the end of the wallpaper border onto the wall so that the top is perfectly aligned with the pencil marks you made. If you are putting the paper at the top or bottom of the wall, align the edge of the paper with the top or bottom edge of the wall as your guide.
-
6
Continue aligning the wall border with the top or bottom edge of the wall or your pencil marks along the whole wall. Make sure to sweep the sweeper across the border as you go to ensure there are no air bubbles in the border.
-
7
Put a small line of vinyl to vinyl paste on any edges of the wall border that overlap wallpaper. Smooth the edges of the border against the wallpaper using the sweeper.
