How to Use PPG Enamel Paint
PPG paint, made by Porter Guard, is commonly used to paint vehicles. It is a glossy, durable enamel that stands up well to the extremes to which automobiles are subjected. It is used in both spray gun and brush-on applications, though brushes should be reserved for small areas and touch-ups. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Stir the paint thoroughly before using it and occasionally while you are painting or spraying to keep it mixed. If spraying, periodically giving the sprayer a little shake will help keep the paint from separating.
-
2
Use the paint at the appropriate air temperature, which is between 35 degrees and 110 degrees Fahrenheit. The surface temperature being painted should be at least 5 degrees above the dew point, and the humidity no greater than 85 percent. These are all factors that affect how the paint applies, dries and cures.

3
Apply PPG paint only over an approved primer. Application to untreated metal may cause the paint to be absorbed and leave you with an uneven and unsightly paint job.
-
4
Clean the surface to be painted of all dirt, grease and oils. Use a solvent to be sure that even embedded soil is cleaned away.
-
5
Allow at least seven days for drying and curing. Porter Guard recommends not washing the vehicle for up to one month to ensure against damage.
