How to Text People With a Zune
The new Zune HD has a built-in Web browser. You can send free texts from your Zune HD by accessing free online text services from your Zune Web browser. "Txtdrop.com" can send texts in the U.S. and Canada. "Txtdrop.net," "Fishtext" and "Text4Free" can send free texts internationally. Being able to send free texts on your Zune HD is useful if you have forgotten, or wish to save money on, your cell phone.

Connect your Zune HD to the Internet. Open the Zune Web browser and navigate to the "TxtDrop" website (see Resources).

Type your email address into the "Your Email Address" box. Type your recipient's full cell phone number into the next box down and the text message you wish to send in the "Your Free Text Message" box.

Click the "Send" button, and your text message will be sent for free.

Connect your Zune HD to the Internet. Open the Zune Web browser and navigate to the "Fishtext/SendSMSNow" website (see Resources).

Select your recipient's country code in the drop-down box. Type your recipient's full cell phone number into the next box. Type your name into the "From" box. Type your message into the "Message" box.

Click the "Send SMS" button, and your text message will be sent for free.

Connect your Zune HD to the Internet. Open the Zune Web browser and navigate to the "Text4Free" website (see Resources).

Click the "Send Free SMS" link. Enter the number and provider of your recipient into Box 1. Type your message into Box 2.

Type the confirmation code into Box 5 and click "Send Message(s)."
