How do I Get a Fast Golf Handicap?
Figuring your golf handicap per USGA regulations consists of a complicated mathematical formula as well as information from a minimum of five rounds of golf. Though using this calculation will give you an official handicap, there is a fast way to get your unofficial handicap that will eliminate the need to plug your numbers into the formula.

1
Write down your 18-hole total from the last round of golf that you played. To quickly and effectively figure your handicap it is only necessary to use the score from the last round that you played. However, If you have scores available from your last three to five rounds you should record them also. The more information on hand the more accurate your handicap will be.
-
2
Record the par for the course that you played next to the total score from that round. If you have more than one score written down you can write down the par for that round next to each score. Par on most 18-hole courses is either 71 or 72.

-
3
Subtract your score from the par. This will give you a fast and general idea of your handicap. Do this for each score and par that you have written down. When you are done, add the results together and divide by the total number of rounds that you recorded.

Tips & Warnings
Keep a spreadsheet of each round that you play that includes your score as well as the par.
Figuring your handicap in this fashion is quick and easy, but it will not be as widely accepted as the official USGA method.
