How do I Make Paper Ice Cream Scoops?

Making paper ice cream scoops provides you with a paper craft for a creative centerpiece or other project. Making them is easy, and only requires a few art and craft materials. This craft allows you to create something with your kids, or alone as a decorative endeavor. Regardless of the uses, paper ice cream scoops provide you with a paper craft to enjoy as often as you like.

Things You'll Need

• 3 sheets off-white construction paper
• Glass bowl
• 1/2 cup white school glue
• 1/2 cup hot water
• 1/4 cup flour
• Fork
• Scissors
• Baking sheet
• 3 softballs

Instructions

1. Mix the water, school glue and flour in a glass bowl. It will form a white liquid paste.

2. Shred the construction paper into the bowl and mix it into the solution, saturating it. Let it saturate for about 30 minutes so it can become part of the paste-- a sort of plaster. The color will change to a cream color resembling French vanilla.

3. Place the three softballs, side by side, on the baking sheet. Leave about three inches between each ball.

4. Knead your hands into the bowl of cream-colored paste.

5. Coat the surface of each softball with about an inch of the pasty substance. Allow the goop to drip down to the baking pan surrounding each ball. Let them dry for about two hours. This will harden the coating back to its paper state.

6. Pry each paper casing off of each ball, carefully. Sit the balls aside. This results in three paper ice cream scoops of vanilla color. Paint them to create different "flavors" with water colors.
