You could continue to have your wife or girlfriend tie your tie each morning, or you could simply keep your tie tied and just loosen it enough to slip it over your head each time you need to remove it. Alternatively, you could take a few moments and learn how to tie the most basic knot for a necktie – the half-Windsor knot.

Stand facing the mirror with your necktie around your neck. The wider end of the necktie should be on your right side; pull the wider end down so that it is 1 foot lower than the narrow end.

Grasp the wider end of the necktie and cross it over the narrow end of the necktie. Pull it around and underneath the narrow end so that the wider end is back on the right side again.

Take the same wider end and insert it through the loop around your neck (at the center front). The wider end will now be on your left side.

Pull the wider end across the front center of the knot you are forming with the tie. The "good" side of the tie must be facing out as you pull the wider end of the tie across. The wider end will be back on your right side now.

Insert the tip of the wider end of the tie up through the loop around your neck. Pull the wider end out so that it hangs over the center knot.

Tuck the tip of the wider end under the top layer of the center knot and pull the entire wider end through.

Tighten the knot by pulling the wider end down gently. Slide the knot up around your shirt collar as you tighten. Adjust the tie while looking in the mirror until it looks neat and even.
