How to Allow Startup Programs on Windows Defender

If you are using Windows 7 or Vista, you can enable startup programs from Windows Defender--an anti-spyware tool designed to remove malicious spyware such as tracking cookies. By default, Windows Defender is preinstalled in Windows 7 and Vista operating systems. It includes a feature that allows to add startup programs without going through more difficult methods such as the registry.

      Click the Windows "Start" menu and click the "Control Panel." Select the "Classic View" link to display the classic Control Panel view

      Double click the "Windows Defender" icon to launch Windows Defender. Click the "Tools" menu located on the top and click the "Software Explorer" link.

      Click the "Show for all users" button, and click "Continue" on the UAC prompt. You should see the startup programs box.

      Select the programs you want to launch automatically when you start your computer and click "Enable." Restart your computer.
