How to Assemble a Dado Blade
A dado blade is a type of blade used for a circular power saw. Dado blades usually form a set, consisting of various shapes and edges. Different dado blades are used to make different grooves, also referred to as dadoes, in wood surfaces. When it comes to specific kinds of dado blades, there are two basic types of sets--an adjustable, wobble set and a stacked set with chippers. If you want to make your woodworking projects easier, you may want to know how to assemble your dado blade. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Unplug your circular saw before you start assembling the dado blades. This is a crucial step when it comes to safety because simply turning off the machine isn't safe enough.
-
2
Locate the blade guard, which is the part at the top of the circular saw, held on by two screws. Unscrew the guard with a screwdriver and then remove it completely. Some models have the blade guard on the right side, and it only needs to be lifted, not removed.

-
3
Lift the throat plate from the machine. This is the metal cover plate with a slit in the middle. Note that some saw models have thumbscrews that need to be removed prior to removing the whole throat plate.
-
4
Elevate the bevel locking lever by sliding it to the left. Then raise the blade with the blade adjusting handle, at the front of the saw.
-
5
Put one adjustable wrench tool on the bolt/arbor nut next to the blade and the other wrench on the opposite side of the saw, on the hex pin/arbor nut.
-
6
Loosen the hex pin by turning it clockwise and then remove it completely. Then remove the washer from under the hex nut and remove it as well. At the same time, you should hold the other wrench to prevent the arbor nut from moving.
-
7
Remove the old blade from the saw and install the new dado blade in its place.
-
8
Assemble the circular saw by going through the Steps 1 to 7 in reverse.
