2 pieces of 1-by-4-by-48 inch lumber
2 pieces of 1-by-4-by-26 inch lumber
1 piece of 27½-by-48-by-¼ inch plywood

Carpenter's square
Variable-speed drill
1/16-inch drill bit
¾-inch butterfly bit
2-inch butterfly bit
100-grit sandpaper
Wood glue

8d finish nails
4d box nails

Having a game room in your house is nice. If you own a pool table, then you're aware of all the accessories you can get to go with it. One of those accessories is a rack that holds the pool cues. If you've looked and haven't found what a rack you like, then the next best thing is to build your own pool cue rack.
Step 1
Place the two 26-inch pieces of lumber side by side on a table. Measure from one end and make a mark at 3, 7, 11, 15, 19 and 23 inches. Place the carpenter's square on these marks and draw a line across the width of both pieces of lumber at each mark. Measure the width of the lumber and divide that number by two. Draw a short line indicating that measurement on each of the lines you just drew.

Step 2
Drill holes on the center marks you made all the way through one of the 26-inch pieces with the ¾-inch butterfly bit. Do not apply too much pressure as this will cause splintering.
Step 3
Drill holes about halfway through the other piece with the 2-inch butterfly bit. Clean up the edges of the circle with sandpaper.
Step 4
Drill two pilot holes on either end of the 48-inch lumber. Next, apply some glue to the ends of the shorter pieces and place them between the longer pieces. Secure them with the 8d finish nails. Clean up any excess glue with a damp cloth.
Step 5
Apply glue to the back edges of the frame. Place the 27½-by-48-by-¼ inch plywood on the back of the frame and secure it with the 4d box nails. Clean up any excess glue with a damp cloth. Set all the nails with the nail set, and fill the holes with wood putty.
Tip
Always wear safety glasses.
Always clean up excess glue immediately.
Felt can be applied to the inside of the holes at the top and in the countersink holes on the bottom of the pool cue rack.
Warning
Do not leave power tools unattended.
Do not apply a stain or paint in an unventilated area.
