Free yourself from the phone line by getting a wireless communications card for your laptop. To select the card, you need to know how you will use it and what type of computer you have.

Things You'll Need:

  • PC Communication Card
  1. Step 1

    Determine whether you will be connecting your laptop to a local-area network (LAN), such as at your office. Will you need to make that LAN connection from the road?

  2. Step 2

    Figure out whether you need to connect via an ISDN line.

  3. Step 3

    Determine whether you are using a notebook PC with 32-bit card slots or with 16-bit card slots or whether you are using an Apple PowerBook.

  4. Step 4

    Ask to see appropriate wireless communication cards based on your evaluation in steps 1 through 3.
