AT&T U-verse is the AT&T Corporation's fiber optic phone, Internet, and cable TV service line. The process of setting up AT&T U-verse service depends upon what service you want to hook up: AT&T U-verse TV service, AT&T U-verse phone service, or AT&T U-verse Internet service. Prior to any equipment installation, however, AT&T U-verse customers must schedule an appointment with AT&T Customer Service to have a U-verse technician come to their home to install the necessary cable wiring.

Hook Up U-verse Set Top Box to TV

Step 1

Examine your TV for the connection ports available. For best results, connect the set top box, or STB, to your HDTV with an HDMI cable. If your TV doesn't have an HDMI port, but does have a DVI port, you can connect this to the HDMI port on the STB using an HDMI-to-DVI adapter. Because DVI transmits only video, you will also need to connect the audio ports using RCA cables.

Step 2

Connect the TV and STB using a coaxial cable if your TV doesn't have DVI or HDMI. The coaxial cable connects to the STB's RF "Out to TV" terminal and the TV set's RF "Antenna In" terminal.

Step 3

Connect the TV to the STB using three AV cables -- two for audio and one for video. Connect the audio / video output from the STB to the corresponding input on the TV. The red, white and yellow AV cables plug into the red, white, and yellow (respectively) AV Out jacks on the STB and the red, white and yellow AV In jacks on the TV set.

Step 4

Plug the STB's power cable into the "Power" jack located on the back of the STB. Plug the other end of the cable into an electrical outlet. Turn on the TV and STB.

Step 5

Set the TV to channel 3 if a coaxial cable was used to connect the STB to the TV. Use the TV remote's "Input" button to set the television's video input to the proper input option. For example, if you connected with HDMI, use the HDMI input option on the TV's input menu.
