How to Change the Buttons on a Bosch Dishwasher

Ashley Hay

Bosch dishwashers have a smooth exterior with flat buttons that run along the front of the dishwasher. Over time, the touchpad buttons may malfunction and require replacement. The Bosch dishwasher’s design has the buttons attached to the control console board as one solid piece. In order to replace the buttons on the dishwasher, you must replace the entire control console board, which has a control panel, control module and circuit board already attached to it, as well as the touchpad on the front. Replacing the control console board has the benefit of not having to remove the control panel, control module and circuit board when making the repair. The repair does not require much time.

Step 1

Disconnect the power for the Bosch dishwasher by flipping the breaker switch to “Off” at the electrical breaker box.

Step 2

Open the dishwasher door and locate the Torx screws along the top of the dishwasher’s door to allow access to the control panel.

Step 3

Unscrew the two screws along the top of the door and the two screws on the side of the top panel. Use a Torx screwdriver to remove the screws.

Step 4

Lift up the door as if you were closing it and then lift up on the control panel cover and pull it away from the door. It will not fully detach while the wires are still connected.

Step 5

Disconnect the wires and the ribbon that are going to the control console board by pulling them away from the console. The control console board runs the length of the dishwasher and includes the buttons and control panel board.

Step 6

Push in the tabs located on the sides of the control console board using a flat-head screwdriver.

Step 7

Pull the control console board out from the door.

Step 8

Insert the new control console board and push it down until the tabs lock into place.

Step 9

Reconnect the wires and ribbon from the dishwasher by pushing them back into place.

Step 10

Reverse the steps to screw the control console board back into place on the dishwasher's door.
