How to Customize a Calendar Template
Instead of creating a calendar from scratch, you can customize a calendar template with specific dates. You can find many calendar templates on the Internet. Some templates allow you to print and then customize the printed copy by hand. Other templates enable you to customize inside a word processing program and then print the customized template. Still other calendar templates require online customization performed directly on the template website.

Print and customize blank calendar templates from Printer Projects or FreeCraft Unlimited. Open the calendar template by clicking on the name of the calendar or the calendar image. Print a new copy of the calendar for each month. Customize the calendar by writing the calendar's month and year in the top empty area. Write the day of the month in the left-hand corner of each day's box. Outline boxes of special dates, such as birthdays or holidays, with colored markers. Create calendars from Calendars That Work templates by customizing directly on the company's website. Select from weekly, monthly or annual calendar templates.
Select year, month and/or week to create a calendar with dates automatically filled. Choose which day of the week from which to start the calendar. For example, you can customize a school calendar to start on Monday and end on Sunday. Select which holidays to include, such as American holidays or Canadian holidays.
Customize calendar cell shading. For example, you can create a calendar where weekends display on a shaded background and weekdays display on a clear background.
Customize the number of calendars to display per page. For example, create a single page that contains monthly calendars for January through April instead of printing each month on a separate page.
Download the customized calendar into Microsoft Word. Enter specific information for each date within the cells provided.
