One of the unavoidable aspects of aging is the formation of wrinkles. Wrinkles are divided into two categories: fine lines and deep furrows. Fine lines usually begin to form around the eyes and mouth. Deep furrows are more difficult to diminish than fine lines. Avoid exposure to the sun. According to WebMD, sun damage is the No. 1 cause of wrinkles and fine lines. If being in the sun is unavoidable, wear sunscreen that has at least an SPF, or sun protection factor, of 15. A floppy hat, long pants and long-sleeved shirts can also be worn to avoid sun exposure to the skin.

Get an adequate amount of sleep. Lack of sleep causes the body to produce an excess amount of cortisol, a chemical that breaks down skin cells and leads to the production of lines and wrinkles. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an adult requires at least seven to nine hours of sleep each night.

Avoid squinting. Squinting during periods of intense sunlight can cause wrinkles to prematurely form around the skin. To avoid squinting, wear sunglasses while outdoors during sunny days.

Add more fruits and vegetables to your diet. According to WebMD, fruits and vegetables contain antioxidants, which help break down unstable molecules that can lead to the formation of lines and wrinkles

Avoid excessively washing your face. Tap water and drying facial cleansers drain the skin of natural oils in the skin that can reduce the appearance and formation of wrinkles. Wash your face no more than twice a day.

Spread lotion or moisturizer onto your face and body. These products add moisture to the skin, which can make it appear more supple and wrinkle free. Moisturizers that contain alpha-hydroxy acids, or AHAs, can lift the top layer of skin, which also helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Place cucumber slices underneath your eyes. These slices cool and moisturize the skin, both of which will reduce eye puffiness and the appearance of lines and wrinkles around the eyes.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day. According to the Mayo Clinic, an adult should consume eight, 8 oz. glasses of water each day. Water will help hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
