How do I Make Miniature Pom Poms for Cheerleader Shoes?
Display your school spirit from your head to the tips of your toes with miniature pom poms for your cheerleader shoes. Get together with the rest of the members of your cheerleading squad and make your own shoe pom poms as a team. Or, make miniature pom poms for the members of your daughter's squad to get their season started right.
Things You'll Need
- Cardboard
- Drinking glass
- Pencil
- Quarter
- Craft knife
- Yarn in school colors
- Scissors

Trace the opening of the drinking glass onto the cardboard twice.

Trace the quarter in the center of each of the circles.

Cut out the donut shapes you have drawn with a craft knife.

Stack the two donuts.

Wrap the first color of yarn around the stacked donuts from inside to outside and back again all the way around the donuts with each wrap right up against the previous one. Make sure the ends are toward the outside of the donuts.

Wrap the second color of yarn around the donuts, on top of the first color, in the same manner.

Wrap two layers of each color, alternating them as described.

Cut through the layers of yarn on the outside edge of the donuts, being careful to hold the donuts together and the yarn in place as you do so.

Tie a 10-inch piece of yarn around the center of the yarn by moving it between the two cardboard donuts so it gathers all the yarn together before tying the two halves of the length of yarn in a knot.

Pull the cardboard donuts off the yarn to reveal the pom pom.

Repeat the process to make a second pom pom. Then, use the ends of the pieces of yarn tied around the middles to tie the pom poms to your shoes.
