How do I Install an Electric Oven Igniter?
The electric oven igniter is a very important part of a gas oven. The igniter provides a spark that lights the gas, which in turn heats the oven. A faulty igniter can cause an oven to fail to light. You can replace an igniter in about 20 minutes. A new igniter typically costs less than $20, and requires only a screwdriver to install. Does this Spark an idea?

Unplug the stove or shut off the circuit breaker that supplies electricity to the stove.

Remove the racks from the oven and unscrew the two screws that secure the base plate to the oven floor.

Locate the igniter and remove the two wires attached to it. The ends of the wires should have clips on them that attach them to the igniter.

Remove the two screws that hold the igniter in place and remove the igniter. Remember the position of the igniter so that you can install the new one in the same position.

Install the new igniter and replace the base plate. Turn on the circuit breaker or plug in the outlet.
