How to Print Greeting Cards With a Laser Printer
Greeting cards are frequently made from folding, thick paper card. The front cover of the card often displays some type of graphic design, artwork or lettering that clearly indicates the type of card. Cards may include birthday or holiday greetings, sympathy or wellness wishes, special event memorial cards or other greetings for the season. Usually a greeting card is oriented toward a specific person and the theme is selected for that person. Some cards are formal, while others may be humorous. Many companies offer templates that allow individuals to include their own personal statements and then print the cards on their computer printers.

Select a free online greeting card template. These templates are offered by Microsoft, Hoover Web Designs, Creativity Portal and many more. Browse through the template themes to locate a basic greeting card design that you like.

Fill in the poems or greetings with personal wishes using favorite sayings used by your family members, or poetry handwritten just for your greeting card. The templates will prompt you where to fill in your special messages on each section.

Preview your card by saving your greeting card. Most templates work with your computer's word processing system. The most common word processing system is Microsoft Word. Your new template will open up inside Word. To save your card click on your "Save As" button. Type in the name of the greeting card and save the file to your documents folder.

Select preview from your "Print" options. This will allow you to see what the greeting card will look like. If it looks correct, click on "Print." Most greeting cards will use standard printer paper and will print on one side of the paper.

Fold the printed card in half lengthwise. Locate the front cover image or type. Fold the folded paper in half so that the front cover image is on the outside of the fold. Crease along the seams for a crisp edge.

Tips & Warnings
Add color to your black and white image by using watercolor pencils or markers to enhance the artwork. You can also print greeting cards on unusual paper for more dramatic results.
