Secured Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) documents are edited and secured using the Adobe Acrobat program. The full version of the application enables the securing of documents by allowing the creator or owner to set passwords for opening, editing and printing the PDF. To edit a secured PDF document, the editing password is required, along with the Adobe Acrobat software. In addition to securing a PDF document with passwords, the creator of the document may encrypt the PDF.

Instructions

      Right-click on the secured PDF document to edit.

      Click the “Open With” option.

      Click the “Adobe Acrobat” program link from the context menu. The password dialog box will appear.

      Type the password for the PDF document and click the “OK” button. The PDF document will open in Acrobat.

      Edit the PDF using the Acrobat editing tools. Click the “Tools” option from the top selection bar, then click “Advanced Editing.” Click the “Touch Up Text Tool.” Select a word or block of text with the tool selected. Type over the word or text to edit the text characters.

      Click the “File” option from the top selection bar, then click “Save” to save the edits to the document.
