How to Make a Home Theater Projector
A quality home theater is all about immersion, the key to which is a large screen that can fill the viewer's field of vision. A projector is the first step to creating that media room; it expands larger than most big screens and recreates the theater-going experience. But consumer projectors are expensive to purchase and maintain. Fortunately, it's possible to build a home theater projector on the cheap with a spare LCD computer screen and overhead transparency projector.
Things You'll Need
- Overhead projector
- LCD computer screen with video input
- Philips head screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver

1
Lay the LCD computer monitor face-down on a flat surface. Unscrew the back panel of the monitor. Gently pry off the back panel with the flathead screwdriver. Unscrew the inner casing of the monitor. Remove the display apparatus of the monitor, turn it over and unscrew the edge coverings of the LCD screen.

Carefully lift the monitor's screen and connected input circuit out of their casing. Lay the screen face-up on top of the overhead projector so that the top edge of the screen is adjacent to the overhead projector's arm.

Superglue the small cooling fan to the edge of the overhead projector so that it blows across the LCD screen. Plug your supported media player of choice into the input circuit of the LCD screen. Plug every component into electrical outlets to bring the device online.
