How to Connect an External Thumb Drive to the Blackberry Storm

Blackberry devices are great for mobile business travelers. Push email and document management are two of the Blackberry's strongest attributes. When you are out of your coverage area though, sending or sharing a file can become next to impossible. If you need to get an attachment or document off your device, the next best option is using a USB flash drive. With a small adapter you can connect a flash drive to the device and copy any file you need.

Things You'll Need

• Micro USB to female USB A adapter
• Blackberry OS 5 or higher

Instructions

1. Connect the Micro USB to female USB adapter to the Blackberry Storm. The micro USB slot on the Storm is what you use to charge the device as well.

2. Insert a USB drive into the female part of the adapter.

3. Open the Blackberry "Files" application.

4. Select a file you would like to copy to the flash drive.

5. Press the Blackberry "Menu" button and select "Copy."

6. Navigate to the flash drive in the "Files" application, press the "Menu" button and select "Paste."

Tips & Warnings

• If the USB drive is not recognized by your Blackberry Storm, other third-party file managing applications are available in "Blackberry App World."
