How to Use an Xbox 360 Keypad As a Keyboard on a Computer

Xbox controllers on computers make for ideal gaming setups.

Microsoft manufactures both Xbox 360 consoles and home computers. The Xbox is actually a lot like a smaller computer. Even Xbox controllers can be wired to home PCs for use in gaming and Internet play. The design of the Xbox controller makes it an ideal input device for playing computer games. The controller can also be configured in any way you desire.

Instructions

1. Attach the Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver to the computer. Once the computer recognizes the device, insert the Xbox 360 controller for Windows set-up disc.

2. Install the Xbox 360 controller for Windows software. When the disc is opened, click "Install" to begin the process. When the installation is finished, plug in the Xbox 360 controller.

3. Click on the "Start" menu and type in "joy.cpl" to bring up the controller properties. Press a button to test the controller's input. The controller should now be functional.
