By requesting authorization to see when a contact is online, you will be better able to monitor your contacts.

Skype is a software application that allows users to make free calls to other Skype users. As more people are using Skype for business means, it is important to differentiate between contacts for work and personal contacts. Also important is being able to see whether those contacts are online. Skype users have the option of appearing "invisible," but by requesting authorization to see when a contact is online, you will be better able to monitor your contacts.

Instructions

Ask for "Authorization to see when a contact is online," whenever adding a new contact on Skype. There is a check box that appears under your main message when you send a new contact request. Mark this box. The contact can either accept or deny your authorization request.

Open your "Contacts" menu in the bottom-left of the screen. Look at the bubble next to them. A green bubble means the contact is online and available to talk, a yellow bubble means he is temporarily away from his computer, and a red bubble means he is too busy to talk. A gray bubble means the contact is either online or has selected to appear "invisible" in his settings.

Check if a contact is using "Invisible" by sending an Instant Message (IM). Select the contact from your "Contacts" menu. A text box appears in the bottom-right of your screen. Type a message and press "Enter" on your keyboard.

Wait for a few minutes. If a yellow bar appears underneath your sent message, the contact is offline as the gray bubble suggests. If a yellow bar does not appear, however, the contact is online and has set his status to "Invisible."
