How to Care for Grundens
Grundens weather gear lasts 10 to 15 years if you take care of it. Grundens gear has a thick PVC coating on the fabric that creates a strong waterproof barrier. The interior is a soft fabric that is warm in the winter, but may be too uncomfortable in the spring and summer. Caring for Grundens takes very little time, effort, or money, but results in extra years of life for your weather gear. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Clean Grundens weather gear each time you wear it. Wash off rain gear with soapy water, using a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse it off with a sponge or cloth dipped in clean water. Do not dip the jacket in water, or wash it in the washing machine.
-
2
Remove caked-on dirt or clay using a soft scrub brush. Dip the brush into a bucket or sink filled with soapy water, and scrub off any hard-to-remove dirt or clay. Rinse the rain gear with a sponge or cloth.

3
Scrub creases and sewn edges with a toothbrush dipped in soapy water to remove dirt from the grooves. The creases and sewn edges are the hardest part to keep clean. They tend to acquire dust during storage that clings under any crease or groove in the plastic. Make sure you remove debris around buttons and zippers. Rinse with water on a sponge or cloth.

4
Hang Grundens weather gear on a strong hanger, or place it on a flat surface to dry. Put the gear in a cool place, and allow at least four hours drying time. Check inside the jacket, boots, hat, or pants for any remaining moisture. If the gear is put away damp, mold will grow on it, and it will develop a moldy smell.
-
5
Place the gear in a cool, dry location for storage. Don't stick Grundens outerwear in a plastic box or trash bag for storage. It needs an airy location.
-
6
Wipe down outerwear with a protective coating like you use on your car dashboard. If the outerwear looks dull and old, spray some of the protective coating on the outerwear. Spread it with a soft cloth, and allow it to dry. The spray brings back the shiny, new appearance.

7
Spray the fabric inside the rain gear with a fabric refresher. If that doesn't remove the moldy scent, mix a teaspoon of laundry detergent with 1 gallon of water. Dip a sponge into the water, and squeeze out most of the water. Wipe over the fabric inside the rain gear. Allow it to dry in a cool, airy space.

Tips & Warnings
Grundens weather gear does not breathe well. If you live in a hot climate, you may want lighter weight rain gear during the summer.
