In Windows Vista, users can enjoy a feature that allows them to merge files and folders together. This is useful especially if you made a copy of a file/folder, moved it to a different computer, made some changes and now want to merge your original content with your changed content. Just like in Windows Vista, users in Windows XP can merge their files and folders together.

Instructions

    • 1

Use Windows Explorer to navigate to your old and new versions of the file/folder you want to merge.

    • 2

Click to select the new version of your file/folder, and then drag it into the same folder as the old version of the file/folder.

    • 3

Click “Yes” when prompted to merge the new file/folder into the old one. Any information that has been added to the new file/folder will now be merged together with the old one, forming one file/folder instead of two.
