With the Orlando area being a hot spot for tourism, notaries public can find work conducting wedding ceremonies or helping notarize important business paperwork. A notary public is commissioned by the governor and is able to administer oaths, take acknowledgements, conduct marriage ceremonies, certify contents of a safe deposit box and attest to photocopies of certain documents.

      Meet the qualifications. All notaries must be at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of the state of Florida.

      Complete application. The application to become a notary public can be completed online or on paper. If applying on paper submit application to the state notary office in Tallahassee, or it can be submitted locally at the Florida Notary Association or Florida Notary Service. Both the organizations are in the Orlando area and offer assistance for completing application and training.

      Take online course. It is required that all new notaries public complete a three-hour online course. There are no grades given out, just a certificate of completion. This is an informational course on what to do, expect and how to properly complete notary duties.

      Acquire bond. A $7,500 public bond from an insurance company is required to be submitted with the application. If using the Florida Notary Association or Florida Notary Service to help with the application, the bond paperwork and approval is included with their services. The bond can also be purchased online through the National Notary Service (NNA) as of 2010 for $40 or $35 for those who become members of the NNA.

      Order supplies. Once approved as a notary public it is time to get the proper supplies. Notaries public should use a self-inking stamp, with name and notary number and a log book to keep track of items notarized. These items are not required, but highly suggested and can be ordered through the state or obtained from the Florida Notary Service or Florida Notary Association when receiving notary certification.
