How to Measure Wireless Speed

You can test the speed of your wireless connection using websites such as Speedtest.net, bandwidthplace.com and speakeasy.net. It is best to measure your speed using two or more websites, since the results may vary slightly. It is also best to measure the speed at various times of the day to determine the peak hours of your Internet speed.

      On the Speedtest website, click the link that says "Begin Test." Within a few seconds, the website will show you both the upload and download speed of your Internet connection.

      Go to the Bandwidthplace website. When you open the page, click on "Start Test." The website will take a few seconds to measure the speed, then the results will be displayed.

      Navigate to the Speakeasy website. This site allows users living in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Washington DC to measure their Internet speeds. Select your city and the website will run a test on your Internet connection speed.
