A triangular pyramid has a triangle as its base.

When looking at a pyramid, think of the vertices as the pointed parts of the pyramid. Therefore, the total number vertices on a pyramid is the number of pointed spots. A triangular pyramid is a pyramid comprised of only pyramids. Even the base of the pyramid is a triangle. If you unfolded the triangular pyramid, you will notice there are four triangles in all that compose the pyramid--one triangle at the base and three triangles around the base.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw out the pyramid. Be sure there are four different triangles with one triangle acting as the base.

    • 2

Put a check mark at any spot there is a pointed spot on the pyramid.

    • 3

Add together all the check marks. In total, there will be four.
