This cranberry sauce is great for any occasion. It also makes a nice addition to an Asian-American inspired feast. Makes 2 1/2 cups.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 large pinch Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 c. fresh cranberries
  • 3 tbsp. chopped crystallized ginger
  • 1 tsp. curry powder
  • 1 tbsp. minced fresh ginger root
  • 2 c. red wine such as Pinot Noir
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • Plastic Wrap
  • Groceries
  • Mixing Spoons
  • Saucepans
  • Plastic Wrap

  1. Step 1

    Heat oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat.

  2. Step 2

    Add cranberries and fresh ginger and stir 3 minutes, or until cranberries begin to burst.

  3. Step 3

    Add wine and sugar and boil 15 minutes, or until the mixture has reduced to 2 1/2 cups.

  4. Step 4

    Add crystallized ginger, curry powder, five-spice powder and salt and pepper to taste.

  5. Step 5

    Cover with plastic wrap and chill until ready to serve.

  6. Step 6

    Serve either warm (by reheating gently over low heat and stirring often) or cold.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can make this sauce up to three days ahead of time.
