How to Reset SonicWALL Pro

A SonicWALL is an electronic security device used by small- to medium-sized companies. The device has a virus protection service, provides a firewall and can prevent employees from surfing certain programmed webpages during office hours. You must reset the SonicWALL Pro if the administrator password is lost or forgotten, the firmware is corrupt, or the test light comes on and won't shut off. Once the system is reset, or the firmware is erased, you must reinstall all firmware and reconfigure the SonicWALL, which is a lengthy, timely process. So you should only reset the SonicWALL when necessary.

Instructions

1. Turn off the SonicWALL Pro by pressing the "Power" button. Disconnect any cables and plugs in the SonicWALL.

2. Locate the small, recessed button on the back of the unit. Press and hold the button down for 10 seconds to reset the unit.

3. Reinstall the cables and plugs into the SonicWALL Pro. Power on the unit. The LED lights will flash for 90 seconds. The test LED light will stay lit until new firmware is installed.

4. Log into the SonicWALL at the default IP address of "http://192.168.168.168." You will receive a message stating that firmware has been erased. Select "Browse." Look through the files and double-click on the "SonicWALL Firmware" file. This will upload the firmware to the SonicWALL Pro.
