How do I Become an Ordained Independent Clergyman?
In the age of the Internet, it has become effortless to become an ordained minister. No longer do you have to go through years of study and affiliate with a mainstream church to legally perform weddings, conduct baptisms or do anything else associated with ministers. Several online sources allow you to attain instant or almost instant ordination. Many of the organizations that offer this have the benefit of letting the person choose a title like father, friar, bishop or other religious title. These ordinations are completely legal and accepted in the United States.

1
Launch a web browser and go to the website of one of the organizations offering instant or almost instant ordination. Universal Life Church, Universal Ministries and American Fellowship Church are a few of the many organizations offering this. While ordination is often free, some organizations charge for this service or to receive documents required in some jurisdictions.
-
2
Read the ordination information and verify that the beliefs and rules listed are agreeable. These will vary by organization but are usually fairly limited in scope and broad in allowance.
-
-
3
Enter and submit your personal information as required by the site. All organizations will need a legal name and other data so that they can verify ordination and provide legally binding documents.
-
4
Save or print any documents or pages provided by the organization showing the ordination. While this could be as simple as a low quality printed image, these are still verification of ordination. There may be other documents needed from the organization to legally register the ordination with a local jurisdiction like a county registrar.
