How to Flash the BIOS on a D-Link DWL-2100 After a Failure thumbnail
Resetting the D-Link Access Point requires a sharp object like a toothpick.

Sometimes it is easier to flash the BIOS on your D-Link DWL2100AP Wireless Access Point than it is to sift through the hundreds of settings stored inside the Access Point's GUI (Graphic User Interface) or settings page. For example, if you've forgotten the encryption key and you cannot gain access to the BIOS, flashing the equipment is the fastest way to get back up and running on the Internet.

Instructions

    • 1

Power the D-Link DWL2100AP Wireless Access Point on by plugging it into the power source. The power jack on the back of the D-Link is yellow and located on the far right of the unit. Wait 60 seconds while the D-Link boots up completely.

    • 2

Locate the reset hole by looking at the back of the D-Link. The reset hole is only big enough for a pin or other small sharp object like a toothpick. The location is between the antenna and the Ethernet port labeled "LAN."

    • 3

Press a pin or toothpick into the reset hole and continue to press it until the lights located on the front of the Access Point turn off. Pull the pin out of the reset hole and wait 60 seconds until the light comes back on and the router resets. Once completed, the router's BIOS is flashed to the original firmware settings.
