How to Reset VoIP

VoIP offers an advanced, cost-effective solution for voice communication.

VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is the transmission of voice traffic over a converged voice and data network. With VoIP you can use your Internet connection to make and receive calls. Getting started with VoIP is easy, and besides your computer and a working Internet connection you need some free phone or messaging software, a microphone and a set of headphones or speakers. If you experience troubles with your VoIP service or your router malfunctions, a simple reset may be all you need. To reset VoIP, follow a few easy steps.

Instructions

1. Unplug the VoIP modem or router.

2. Wait a few minutes. Waiting at least five to 10 minutes ensures a full reset.

3. Turn the computer off.

4. Plug the modem or router back in.

5. Turn on the computer.

6. Test out your VoIP service.

• If after the reset your VoIP router is still not working properly, you may need to contact your service provider.
