How to Clean Glass Shards From a Chipped Glass Pipe
Broken glass from a chipped glass pipe can leave nearly invisible pieces on your floor that may cut or hurt someone who walks on them. The glass can also be tracked throughout the house to different locations, making it nearly impossible to remove. Cleaning glass shards from a broken pipe should be done immediately, and the cleaning method varies, depending on the floor surface. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Back away from the broken glass, and put on hard-soled shoes. Working around glass shards that are barely visible to the naked eye makes you susceptible to stepping in them, causing foot cuts. Put on thick fabric gloves that are resistant to being cut.
-
2
Pick out large pieces of the pipe with your fingers, disposing of them in a paper bag. Then place them in a recycling bin. Placing them in the recycling bin without the paper bag leaves them open to being crushed and creating shards within the bin.

3
Vacuum over the mess to clean up visible shards. Use small back and forth motions. Do not vacuum over areas of the carpet where there are no shards, because the vacuum may spreading the smaller shards all over the carpet.
-
4
Wet a paper towel and run it over the area with shards on a tile or ceramic floor. Dispose of the paper towel. Do not use a rag that you intend to reuse on another mess, since it is impossible to shake out all the tiny glass shards from the towel. Alternatively, sprinkle a piece of bread with water and wipe up the mess on the tile. Dispose of the bread immediately after cleanup.

5
Grasping the ends firmly, pat a piece of duct tape over the carpet area where the glass shards are present. Lift up the duct tape, and dispose immediately.
