How to Add Wireless to Comcast With VoIP
Comcast provides high-speed cable Internet which is effective for using a VoIP (voice over Internet protocol) service. Establishing a wireless connection with your VoIP service allows users to connect to the Internet in various areas of the house while still having the ability to talk on the telephone. Purchase a separate wireless router to connect to your Comcast cable modem if you want to set up a wireless Internet connection.
Instructions

1
Unbox the wireless router and connect the Ethernet cord provided (resembles a larger telephone connection) into the back of the wireless router labeled "Internet".
-
2
Plug the other end of the Ethernet cord into the back of your Comcast cable modem labeled "Internet".
-
-
3
Plug a second Ethernet cord into into the back of your wireless routers available Ethernet port and plug the other end into the back of your computer's available Ethernet port. Your wireless router is now connected to your Comcast modem and your computer.
-
4
Plug a third Ethernet cord from the back of your wireless routers available Ethernet port while plugging the other end into the back of your VoIP adapter labeled "Internet" (if you are using a USB connected VoIP adapter like MagicJack, plug it into your computer's available USB port).
-
5
Plug your landline phone cord into the back of your VoIP adapter. If you are using a cordless phone, position it as far away from the wireless router as possible as the cordless phone can interfere with the wireless signal from the router which can cause dropped and low-quality calls.
-
6
Plug your Comcast modem, wireless router and VoIP adapter into the wall outlet.
-
7
Access the start menu, control panel, "Network and Internet," "Network and Sharing," "Connect to a network," and "Connect to the Internet." Your computer will attempt to access a wireless router. Click on the brand-name of the wireless router you own.
-
8
Create a password for the wireless network to prevent unauthorized individuals from accessing your wireless Internet and using it for free. Save changes and connect to the Internet by opening your preferred browser like Internet Explorer.
