How to Recharge an iPhone When the Battery Dies

If you've used your iPhone until the battery has completely drained, the screen flashes a red battery icon with an image of an electrical plug to signify it is time to recharge it. The iPhone comes with a USB cable that connects to the dock connector port on the device. The cable can be connected to your PC or Macintosh computer for charging. To charge the device faster, insert the power adapter that comes with the iPhone into an electrical outlet.

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone USB cable
  • iPhone power adapter (optional)

Instructions

    • 1

Turn on your computer, then insert the iPhone's USB cable into the computer's USB slot.

    • 2

Insert the 30-pin dock connector end of the cable into the bottom of the iPhone. The iPhone's screen will display the charging icon until there is enough battery life to power on the device.

    • 3

Keep the computer powered on, and leave the iPhone connected to the computer until the battery image turns a solid bright green. The iPhone's battery level will be displayed in the upper-right corner of the screen. Alternatively, plug the USB end of the iPhone's cable into the power adapter and plug the adapter into an available electrical socket.

    • 4

Disconnect the iPhone cable from the bottom of the iPhone, then remove the cable from the computer.
