How to Add Yahoo Mail to Outlook 2007
Microsoft's Outlook 2007 provides the individual or business Internet email user an efficient desktop email client with which to organize, send and receive email using a compatible Internet email service provider. Yahoo! Mail Plus is a respected and user-friendly Internet email server which sets up and interacts with the Outlook 2007 in a few easy steps to properly configure POP and SMTP settings.

Ensure that an active Internet connection is available. Upgrade if using Yahoo! Mail Classic to Yahoo! Mail Plus in order to use Microsoft's Outlook 2007 email client program software. In 2010 subscription service is available for $19.99 per year to be able to use all Outlook 2007 features with Yahoo! Mail Plus service.

Gather Yahoo! Mail Plus account information. Necessary information for input will include the full name on the account as well as the unique user name, the user's specific full email address such as username@yahoo.com, and the email account password. The "Incoming Mail Server" information input will be "plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com" and the "Outgoing Mail Server" information input will be "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com."

Open the Outlook 2007 email client program on desktop. Select "Tools" in the drop-down menu area in the upper left-hand corner and then choose "Account Settings" with a single right-click. Underneath the "Email" tab on the "Account Settings" screen right-click on the "New" button to reach the "Add New Email Account" screen.

Bypass the "Auto Account Setup" by placing a check mark into the box at the bottom of the "Add New Email Account" screen allowing for manual configuration of server settings and additional server types. This allows the user to choose and set up the specific POP email service type necessary for Outlook 2007 to communicate with the Yahoo! Mail Plus internet email server. Right-click "Next."

Select "Internet Email (POP)" on the "Choose Email Service" screen which has now popped up and right-click "Next." This brings up the "Internet Email Settings" screen, which allows the user to input the specific user, server and log-on information necessary. Input all information gathered during Step 2 in appropriate areas and ensure when entering user name information that only the email user name information is used, leaving off the "@yahoo.com." Leave the "Secure Password Authentication" box unchecked and right-click on "More Settings."

Right-click the "Outgoing Server" tab on the "Internet Email Settings" screen and choose for the outgoing server (SMTP) to require authentication for best email security and performance. Right-click "OK" and then right-click "Next." If setup has been successful at this point a "Congratulation" screen will appear. Right-click on "Finish" to complete setup.

Check that your new email configuration is functioning correctly by sending a test email to yourself. The test email can take a few moments to get from server to server and back to Outlook 2007. Repeat the process if not functioning correctly to ensure all information is spelled correctly and is case sensitive until Outlook 2007 email client can receive and send the user's email using Yahoo! Mail Plus.

Tips & Warnings
If the Incoming Server (POP3) port number or the Outgoing Server (SMTP) port number needs to be changed look on the "Internet Email Settings" page under the "Advanced" tab. These automatically assigned numbers on occasion need to be manually input to match current port numbers which Yahoo! uses.
